It's finally over! My time at OCAD has come to an end, and it honestly feels weird! I suddenly have free time (when I'm not working) and I'm not entirely sure how to balance all the things I want to do with it!
Anywho! Set up went really well! We ended up finishing the preparation a full day ahead of schedule. Which meant, with only about 15 hours notice, the mad dash for claiming our spots began a day early. I suddenly had to drop everything else to finish my sign so I'd have at least SOMETHING to put on my wall.
After a poor experience at The Printing House, I ended up receiving all of my prints for free to make up for it! They handled the situation really well! And the prints looked beautiful mounted on my wooden panels. At first, anyway.
When I brought in all my images to put up, I couldn't help but notice that my the double sided tape I had used to mount my sign had loosened, and the print was hanging out on the floor. I checked the mounted pieces in my bags, and they were also falling off of the panels.
I ran out to above ground to get a more heavy duty tape; it was too late to change plans, and remounted EVERYTHING.
Miraculously they held through the entire event! My business cards made it in time, and my display looked great!
I made some little charms (more on that another time), had some screen prints, and ordered some stickers to be sold in the store. Unfortunately the stickers were shipped way later than they should have been, and didn't make it in time. (I'll review the stickers in an upcoming post, too. ) That being said, everything else sold really well though! I made a good chunk of money, and it really pushed me to get my online store running again!
I'm still working on getting some product together so I can get a good inventory for opening, but expect it sometime this summer! Be sure to keep an eye out for a new link in the site navigation!
It's been a crazy time, and I'm still trying to get back to a normal sleep schedule. But everything is great and I'm excited and optimistic about things to come.
